We would like to welcome you to the Children and Young People’s Services Directorate, which places the needs of Shropshire’s children and young people at the centre of all our work. The Directorate brings together staff from a range of disciplines, working together to provide support for children, young people, schools, families and carers.

We provide and commission an extensive range of services to support every stage of children’s and young people’s development, from their early years through to preparing them for school, further and higher education, vocational training or work. We are committed to helping all children and young people to obtain their best levels of education, health and development and support those that are most vulnerable. Our aim is to ensure children and young people can build on their achievements and develop and improve their confidence, self esteem and resilience. Together we will provide opportunities for every child and young person to achieve their potential so they can:

• be healthy;
• stay safe;
• enjoy and achieve;
• make a positive contribution and
• achieve economic wellbeing.

The Directorate brings together staff formerly working in Social Care & Health, Community and Environment and Education Services in order to create integrated services for the children, young people and families in Shropshire. In addition, we will be working even closer with other key partners in the County to ensure our provision is ‘joined-up’, continues to improve the excellent services on offer and provides best value for money for the investment you are making in our young citizens.
