The majority of Shropshire residents now have access to a kerbside recycling service, which enables people to recycle on their doorsteps.

The information on this page shows what materials can be collected at the kerbside for recycling in all of these areas, and in what type of container.

For more information about which materials go into which colour box or bin, please follow the appropriate link based on the district in which you live.

(1) Kerbside collection box

The following can be put out for recycling in the appropriate box.

Paper

Newspapers, periodicals and magazines, catalogues, telephone directories (except ‘Yellow Pages’).

All types of uncontaminated household paper, greetings cards and junk mail, envelopes without windows, stationery type paper.

Glass

Clean glass food and drink bottles and containers which normally contain food or beverages used in the home

Note: you don't need to remove any labels.

Cans

Clean food & drink cans, cans which normally contain food or beverages used in the home, aerosol cans, metal lids from jars/bottles.

Note: you don't need to remove any labels.

Foil

Clean aluminium foil and foil trays

Batteries; aerosols; textiles and shoes - Shrewsbury area only

(2) Wheeled bin for compostable waste

The following can be put out for recycling in the appropriate bin.

Garden waste

Leaves, flowers and plants, grass cuttings, hedge and tree prunings (up to about 5cm diameter) and similar materials.

Cardboard

Any type of card except that with plastic, metal, foil or wax coating

Kitchen waste - (not in Bridgnorth and Oswestry areas)

Food waste such as fruit, vegetables, peelings, cooked food, meat, fish and bones, egg shells, bread and cakes, tea bags and coffee grounds. May be wrapped in paper if necessary.

(3) Food waste bag (Ludlow-area only)

The following can be put out for recycling in the appropriate bag.

Kitchen waste

Food waste such as fruit, vegetables, peelings, cooked food, meat, fish and bones, egg shells, bread and cakes, tea bags and coffee grounds. May be wrapped in paper if necessary.

Please note

(1) Leaflets and collection calendars issued to you in the past may provide slightly different information.

(2) It is important to rinse out bottles, jars, cans and foil containers and not to put unrecyclable waste in recycling boxes or garden waste bins.
