New director appointed to Shropshire Council

Val Beint

The team of councillors overseeing the move to Shropshire Council - known as the Implementation Executive - has made its first senior appointment to the new council.

Val Beint, currently Assistant Director at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, has been appointed as Director of Community Services for Shropshire Council.

Val heads the adult social care service at Dudley, which is rated as the fourth best service in the country.

She will take up her post in Shropshire later in the summer and will work to prepare Community Services for the move to Shropshire Council.

Councillor Malcolm Pate, Chairman of the Implementation Executive, said: “We are delighted to have made this appointment. Val was an outstanding candidate and I am sure she will be a real asset to Shropshire Council.”

Cecilia Motley, Vice Chair of the Implementation Executive, said: “Director of Community Services is a challenging role, and we feel Val has all the attributes required to do a first-rate job for the people of Shropshire and the new Shropshire Council.”

Val Beint said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Director of Community Services and look forward to joining Shropshire at this exciting time.”
