Headteachers must by law have a policy to prevent all forms of bullying.

The policy needs to set out:

  • strategies to be followed
  • systems to ensure effective implementation
  • monitoring and review

If parents/carers have concerns and would like to find out more, talk to your school, find out what their policy is.

For any child or young person concerned about bullying, a free confidential Childline helpline for children is available on 0800 44 1111.

Information and advice on tackling bullying can also be accessed on the Schools for Health Anti-bullying pages and on the DfES Website.
