Implementation Executive

The Implementation Executive (IE) consists of 29 councillors drawn from all six existing Shropshire councils. It is responsible for making decisions about the transition to the new unitary authority.

Membership of the Implementation Executive is as follows:

The Implementation Executive has been meeting informally since late 2007 to consider preliminary planning for a smooth transition to the new council. From 29 February 2008 it became an official body with formal decision-making powers. Its meetings are open to members of the public and representatives from the media. Its agendas and minutes are publicised on all the councils' websites.

There are three sub-committees of the Implementation Executive: Local Development Framework, Resources, and Service Transition/Transformation. These sub-committees also meet on a regular basis and are open to the public and the media.
