Winter maintenance policy statement
Each year we produce a Winter Maintenance Policy Statement. The Statement gives detailed information about the procedures we put in place to help "keep Shropshire moving" in the winter. For example:
- We subscribe to the Met Office "Open Road" service between 1 October and 30 April. As part of this service, the Met Office send us ice predication graphs and roadside weather forecasts. Please note, the Council can not provide accurate weather forecasts for the public. However, you can listen to regular weather forecasts and road reports on your local radio station. - At least one employee at each of our five divisional offices will be on weekend stand-by between 10 December to 26 February. This includes the Christmas and New Year period.
- Our salting fleets - operated by our Term Maintenance Contractor, Enterprise (formally JDM Accord) - are also on stand-by in order to carry out salting at any time of the day.
