Cleobury Mortimer town centre enhancement

Work started on the 11 August 2008 to enhance two streets in Cleobury Mortimer and is expected to take 14 weeks.

This scheme, estimated to cost approximately £450,000, aims to improve the usability and appearance of the pavements on Church Street and High Street by installing high quality granite kerbs and York stone paving.

We are very pleased to receive the grant of £265,000 from Advantage West Midlands which has allowed us to carry out this work.

The streets will also be made safer by installing a zebra crossing and a 20mph speed limit.

The work will be taking place between the junctions of Lion Lane and Childe Road, and for the safety of the workforce, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights with a signed alternative route.

This scheme is being carried out by the council together with its consultants Mouchel and contractors Alun Griffiths.

Enhancement scheme progress 30 September

Shropshire County Council’s work to carry out a major enhancement of Cleobury Mortimer town centre is nearing the half way stage. Work is progressing well and is expected to be finished in mid November 2008.

The works include the reconstruction of footways, a zebra crossing and bus layby. Top quality materials such as Yorkstone paving, granite kerbs, diamond cut blue bricks and cast iron street furniture are being used to compliment the conservation area.
