Winter driving
Advice on driving in winter conditions can be found on our winter driving web page. Similar advice is also provided within our winter maintenance service leaflet which you can down-load and carry with you when travelling. (Please contact us if you would to request a hard copy of this leaflet).
For further guidance on driving in winter conditions from organisations such as the Highways Agency, the Department of Transport's road safety organisation THINK, and "Brake" the road safety charity, follow the links at the bottom of this page.
Winter weather
Shropshire Council can not provide the public with accurate weather forecasts. However, for further information on winter weather and road reports, listen to your local radio station. Shropshire's local stations include:
- BBC Radio Shropshire - 96FM
- Beacon Radio - 103.1FM
- Severn Radio - 106.5FM (Shrewsbury and Central Shropshire) and 107.1FM (Oswestry and North Shropshire)
- Sunshire 855 Radio - 855AM (South Shropshire)
Local stations usually provide hourly reports. Updates may be provided more frequently during poor winter conditions.
You can also view daily weather forecasts on-line on the BBC, Met Office, Beacon Radio and Severn Radio websites.
Winter maintenance service on other roads
