These pages will tell you about Shropshire County Council's Countryside Service and what it does. The Shropshire County Council's Countryside Service aims to work with Shropshire’s people to provide a better landscape and environment and new opportunities for walking, horseriding and other recreational activities. We do this by managing 16 Countryside Heritage Sites, 5,500 kilometres of public rights of way, working with and supporting local communities and much, much more.
Countryside Access Strategy for Shropshire
The draft strategy has been produced following on from widespread consultation with local residents, visitors and others. The strategy looks at the existing countryside access network in the County, and outlines improvements to modernise the network and to make the countryside a more welcoming and accessible place for everyone. The final version of this document will be published and available by June 2008.
