Introduction to the Archaeology Service
Please check any links made to this page.

Shropshire has a rich and varied wealth of historic monuments and archaeological sites dating from prehistoric times to the Industrial Revolution. This unique archaeological heritage is an important cultural resource and one which we want to protect and enhance for the enjoyment of present and future generations.
The Archaeology Service aims to provide community focused services which preserve and interpret the archaeological heritage of the county and its communities. In doing so we aim to enthuse, entertain, and educate residents and visitors to the county.
We work with our colleagues in Cultural Services and local heritage groups to provide a range of community archaeology services and events. We also run a commercial field archaeology service. (For more details of these services please follow the links on this page.)
